This is me – Mariam. I am also often found under the name Violet Paradise on the Internet. I am from Cairo, Egypt and am currently based in Berlin, Germany. At the time I’m writing this, I’m 28.

Although I have always loved being outdoors, taking long walks and exploring new beautiful places, recently something more has awakened in me.

I am not only exploring places merely to explore, but to find something more. To find something more within me, within my soul. To find freedom, strength, endurance, self-trust and a widening of my own horizon.

This blog arose as a complementary idea to my first solo hike over several days, with the Baltic Sea as the destination. I created this blog, because I want to share what this liberating journey was like… and what other journeys to follow shall be like. I keep saying to my friends that this is turning into an addiction and I repeatedly hear “it’s a healthy addiction” – so here I am, putting my new healthy addiction into words… and lots of pictures. :)
